The School Program in the Youth Facility has a classroom that is operated in conjunction with the Selah School District, and staffed by certified teachers. This school is gender specific and operates 7 days a week.
Each patients coursework is individualized to their specific needs. Our teachers are able to coordinate with a patient’s home school, or have a youth earn credit from the Selah School District. Patients also have access to Advance Academics online program, which provides an opportunity to earn a significant amount of credit. The patient will be able to earn as much credit as they do work for. We have had some youth who have earned as much as three credits or more during a treatment stay.
The School Program offers a gender specific recreational class daily. Each class is supervised by a Physical Education teacher. Recreational activities include full court basketball, volleyball, and running/walking in Sundown’s 7000 square foot gym.
Also included in the gym is a weight and exercise equipment room, as well as padded jogging track, aerobic exercise area, and table tennis.
In addition, the 30-acre campus features walking/jogging tracks and numerous recreational areas.
